And, part three!! I think we will continue the Christmas baking with something else chocolate-y!!
These brownies are one of my favourite things to make because they literally take 20 minutes to make – from beginning to end of baking time. (Maybe 30 min, depending on how temperamental your oven is or can be…)
From the lovely editors of Canadian Living magazine:
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup butter
3 oz (squares) semisweet chocolate
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup flour
24 rosebuds (optional)
Melt butter, sugar and chocolate together over low heat, until the chocolate is just melted. Remove from heat and let cool for about 1 minute. Blend in vanilla and egg. Fold in flour until just blended – don’t overstir!
Spoon into tiny paper baking cups. Bake in 350F oven for about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and, if you so desire, place a rosebud on the top. When I was a kid, my mom used to make these every year and I remember them being so fancy because we only got them at Christmas and they had the chocolate rosebuds on top. I sometimes put a rosebud on some of them, but they are so chocolate-y, they almost don’t need them.
There you go – the perfect bite of chocolate loveliness!!! (If you have a shaped pan, it makes things a little more interesting!)
